Engine Overheating You will find a coolant light or warning light about a the hot engine onyour Buick's instrument panel. If you have the optional gage cluster, you may also have a coolant temperature warning gage. See "Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light" or"Engine Coolant Temperature Gage" in the Index. I If Steam Is Coming From Your Engine Steam from an overheated engine can burn you badly, evenif you just open the hood. Stay away from the engineif you see or hear steam coming from it. Just turn itoff and get everyone away from thevehicle until it cools down. Waituntil there is no signof steam or coolant before opening the hood. If you keep driving when your engine is overheated, the liquids in it can catch You or fire. others could be badly burned. Stop your engine if it overheats, and out of the vehicle until the get engine is cool. NOTICE: If your engine catches fire because keep you driving with no coolant, yourvehicle can be badly damaged. The costly repairs would not be covered by your warranty. 5-12
