How to Add Coolant to the Coolant Recovery Tank If you haven't found a problem yet, but the coolant level isn't at the COLD mark, add a 50/50 mixture of clean water (preferably distilled)and DEX-COOL@ (silicate-free) antifreeze at the coolantrecovery tank. (See "Engine Coolant" in the Index for more information.) NOTICE: In cold weather,water can freezeand crackthe engine, radiator, heater core and otherparts. Use the recommended coolantand the proper coolant mix. I A CA 'JTION: - Adding onlyplain water to your cooling system can be dangerous. Plain water, some other or liquid like alcohol, boil before the proper can coolant mix will. Your vehicle'scoolant warning system is set the proper coolant mix. With for plain water or the wrong mix,your engine could get too hot you wouldn't getthe overheat but warning. Your engine could catch and you or fire others could beburned. Use a 50/50 mix of clean water and DEX-COOL@coolant. 5-19
