* If your vehicle has the GM Oil Life System JM$ a computer system lets youknow when to change the engine oil and filter. This is based on engine revolutions and engine temperature, and not on mileage. Eased on driving conditions, themileage at which an oil change will be indicated can vary considerably. For the oil life system to work properly,you must reset the system every time the oil is changed. 7,500 Mi!es (12 500 km) 0 Change engine oil and filter (or every 12 months, whichever occurs first). An Emission Control Service. (See footnote *.) 0 Rotate tires. See Tire Inspection and Rotation on page 5-64 for proper rotation pattern and additional information. (See footnote @.) (See footnote +.) When the system has calculated that oil life hasbeen diminished, it will indicatethat an oil change is necessary. OIL A CHANGE ENGINE SOON message will come on. Change your as soon as possible within the next two oil times youstop for fuel. It possible that, if you are driving is under the best conditions, oil life system may the not chaqe indicate that ar: ~ i / is necessary for over a year. However, your engine and filter must be changed at oil least once a year at this time the system must and be reset. It is also important to check your oil regularly and keep itat the proper level. If the system is ever reset accidentally, you must change your oil at 3;OOOmiles (5 000 km] since yoru last oil change. Remember toreset the oil life system whenever the oil is changed.
