Even if the passenger sensing system has turned off the right front passenger frontal airbag, no system is fail-safe. No one can guarantee that an airbag will not deploy under some unusual circumstance, even though it is turned off. Secure rear-facing child restraints in a rear seat, even if the front passenger frontal airbag is off. It is also better to secure a forward-facing child restraint in a rear seat. If a forward-facing child restraint must be secured in the right front seat, always move the front passenger seat as far back as it will go. (Continued) Whenever possible, children age 12 and under should be secured in a rear seating position. The vehicle is equipped with a front center airbag in the inboard side of the driver seat. Even with a front center airbag, a child restraint can be installed in any second row seating position. Never put a rear-facing child seat in the front. If a child restraint is installed in a second row center seat, move the second row seat to the rearward position, whenever possible, to minimize contact with the front center airbag. When securing a child restraint in a rear seating position, study the instructions that came with the child restraint to make sure it is compatible with this vehicle. Child restraints and booster seats vary considerably in size, and some may fit in certain seating positions better than others.
