A CAUTION: Never do this. I I C r Here a childis sitting ina seat that has a lap-shoulder but belt, the shoulder part is behind the child. If the child wears the belt in thisway, in a crash the child might slideunder the belt. The belt's force would then be applied right on thechild's abdomen. That could cause seriousor fatalinjuries. Wherever the child sits,the lap portionof the belt should be worn low and snugon the hips, just touching child's thighs. This applies belt the force to thechild's pelvicbones in a crash. 59
