A CAUTION: Wet brakes can cause accidents. They won't work well in a quick stop and may cause pullingto one side. You could lose controlof the vehicle. After driving througha large puddleof water or a car wash, apply your brake pedal lightly until your brakes work normally. Driving too fast through large water puddlesor even going through some car washes can cause problems, too. The water mayaffect your brakes. Try to avoid puddles. But if you can't, try to slow down before you hit them. 4-18
