Checking Things Under the Hood An electric fan under the hood can start up and injure you even when the engine is not running. Keep hands, clothing and away from any tools underhood electric fan. Don't reach through the grille to release the underhoodlever. To open the hood, first pull the release handle inside th glove box. Things that burn can on hot engine get parts and start a fire. These include liquids gasoline, like oil, coolant, brake fluid,windshield washerand other fluids, and plastic or rubber.
