4. Remove the key. If your vehicle's gearshift lever is mounted on the floor: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Put the gearshift in 1 (First). Turn the ignition key to OFF. Set the parking brake fully before removing your foot from the service brake. Push and hold in the key release button. Turn the key to LOCK. Remove the key. RWARNING Always set the parking brake fully and make sure that the gearshift is latched in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or 1 (First) (manual transmission). With the transfer case in N (Neutral), the vehicle is free to move with either the automatic transmission in P (Park) or with the manual transmission in any driving gear. RWARNING Do not leave the vehicle unattended with the transfer case in the N (Neutral) position. Always set the parking brake fully and turn off the ignition when leaving the vehicle. 52
