iscommonamongallvehicles

UNDERSTANDINGTHECVT
(IFEQUIPPED)
ContinuouslyVariableTransmission(CVT)
TheCVTisafullyautomatictransmissionthatelectronically
monitorsvehiclesysteminputs/outputsanddriverdemandsto
selectthedesireddriveratio.Unliketraditionalautomatic
transmissions,theCVTcontinuallyadjuststheoptimum
overalldriveratiobetweenengineanddrivewheelsforall
operatingconditions.
Astraditionalautomatictransmissionsshiftupordownin
gears,theshiftingingearratiosisnoticeablebyincreasingand
decreasingengineRPM,whichcausesaslightenergylossas
thegearschange.Thesegearchangescanbefeltbythedriver.
WiththeCVT,thereisnoenergytransferlossfromshifting
becausethereisnogearshiftingupordown.Accelerationup
tovehicleoperatingspeedissmoothandcontinuous,
uninterruptedbygearshifting.Thesameholdstrueforcoasting
downtoidle:smoothandcontinuous.
Unliketraditionalautomatictransmissions,theCVToffersmore
responsiveperformanceandincreasedfueleconomy.
