1-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors and trunk n Impact detection door lock release system In the event that the vehicle is subject to a strong impact, all the doors are unlocked. Depending on the force of the impact or the type of accident, however, the system may not operate. n Door closer (if equipped) 1 In the event that a door is left slightly open, the door closer will automatically close it to the fully closed position. n Using the mechanical key Before driving The doors can also be locked and unlocked with the mechanical key. (→P. 594) n Customization Settings (e.g. unlocking function using a key) can be changed. (→P. 627) CAUTION n To prevent an accident Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle. Failing to do so may result in a door opening and an occupant falling out, resulting in death or serious injury. l Always use a seat belt. l Always lock all doors. l Ensure that all doors are properly closed. l Do not pull the inside handle of the front door while driving. l Set the rear door child protector locks when children are seated in the rear seat. n When a door is not completely closed (vehicles with door closer) The door closer operates to automatically close the door. Be careful not to catch a finger or anything else in the door. NOTICE n To prevent door closer malfunction (vehicles with door closer) Do not apply force to a door while the door closer is operating. 25
