1-3. Adjustable components (seats, mirrors, steering wheel) CAUTION n Seat belt damage and wear l Do not attempt to install, remove, modify, disassemble or dispose of the seat belts. Have any necessary repairs carried out by your Toyota dealer. Inappropriate handling of the pretensioner may prevent it from operating properly resulting in death or serious injury. n Child restraint lock function belt precaution Do not allow children to play with the child restraint lock function belt. If the belt becomes twisted around a child's neck, it will not be possible to pull the belt out leading to choking or other serious injuries that could result in death. If this occurs and the buckle cannot be unfastened, scissors should be used to cut the belt. n When using the center third seat belt Do not use the center third seat belt with either buckle released. Fastening only one of the buckles may result in death or serious injury in case of sudden braking or a collision. 1 Before driving n Using a seat belt comfort guide (center third seat) l Make sure the belt is not twisted and that it lies flat. The elastic cord must be behind the belt and the guide must be on the front. l To reduce the chance of injury in case of a sudden stop, sudden swerve or accident while driving, remove and store the comfort guide in its pocket when it is not in use. l Always make sure the shoulder belt is positioned across the center of the shoulder. The belt should be kept away from the neck, and should not slide off the shoulder. Failure to observe these precautions could reduce the effectiveness of the seat belt in an accident, causing death or serious injury. 79
