40 Practical Stitches - Applications Edgestitching Stitch: Needle: Thread: Feed dog: Presser foot: Straight stitch No. 1 size and type suitable for the fabric selected cotton, polyester or cordonnet (topstitching) up (sewing position) Reverse pattern foot No. 1C, Blindstitch foot No. 5 or Edge stitch foot No. 10 (optional accessory) Narrow Edgestitching Outer Edges • place edge of fold against the guide on the Blindstitch foot • select needle position at desired distance from the folded edge Needle Position • left for outer edge • right for inner edge (hem edges) Presser Foot • Blindstitch foot No. 5 Hem Edges 5 • place edge of fold against the guide on Foot No. 5: the Blindstitch foot (inside upper edge of use any left or far right needle hem) position • select needle position right to sew along Foot No. 10: the upper edge use any left or right needle position Wide Edgestitching Guiding the Fabric Presser foot as a Guide: • guide the folded edge along the edge of the presser foot Stitch Plate as a Guide: • guide the folded edge along the marks on the stitch plate (for stitching 3/8" to 1 1/8" (1 to 2,5 cm) from the edge) Needle Position • any needle position can be used according to the width of the stitching Presser Foot • Reverse pattern foot No. 1C Seam Guide: • insert the seam guide into the hole on the back of the presser foot shaft • adjust as desired • tighten the screw • guide the folded edge along the seam guide • to sew parallel wider lines, guide the seam guide along a previously sewn line of stitches

Guiding the Fabric
