Troubleshooting Other problems 6 For Macintosh with USB 6 Problem Recommendation The machine does not appear in Printer Setup Utility (Mac OS X 10.4.11) or Print & Fax in System Preferences (Mac OS X 10.5.x and 10.6.x). Make sure the machine is powered on and that there are no error messages on the LCD. Make sure that the USB interface cable is connected directly to the Macintosh and that it is connected to the USB port of the machine. Make sure the printer driver is installed correctly. Unable to print from the application. Make sure that the supplied Macintosh printer driver is installed in the Hard Disk and that it is chosen with Printer Setup Utility (Mac OS X 10.4.11) or Print & Fax in System Preferences (Mac OS X 10.5.x and 10.6.x). 6 BR-Script 3 6 Problem The print speed slows down. The machine cannot print EPS data that includes binary. Recommendation Add optional memory. (See Installing extra memory on page 86.) You need the following settings to print EPS data: a For Windows® 7 and Windows Server® 2008 R2: Click the Start button and Devices and Printers. For Windows Vista®: Click Start button, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, and then Printers. For Windows® XP and Windows Server® 2003/2008: Click Start button, and select Printers and Faxes. For Windows® 2000: Click Start button, and select Settings and then Printers. b For Windows® 7 and Windows Server® 2008 R2: Right-click the Brother HL-4570CDW (HL-4150CDN) Series icon and select Brother HL-4570CDW (HL-4150CDN) BR-Script3. For Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, Windows Vista® and Windows Server® 2003/2008: Right-click the Brother HL-4570CDW (HL-4150CDN) BR-Script3 icon and select Properties. c From the Device Settings tab, choose TBCP (Tagged binary communication protocol) in Output Protocol. 166
