To return to the default settings, use the no form of this command. spanning-tree mode { mstp | rstp |stp } no spanning-tree mode Syntax Description mstp Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP). rstp Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). stp Spanning Tree Protocol ( IEEE 802.1D-Compatible) Default Command Mode Usage Guideline Example mstp Global configuration If the spanning-tree mode is configured as STP or RSTP, all currently running MSTP instances will be cancelled automatically. If the newly configured spanning-tree mode is changed from the previous one, the spanning-tree state machine will restart again, therefore all of the stable spanning-tree port states will transit into discarding states. Caution: Be careful when using the spanning-tree mode command to switch between STP, RSTP, and MSTP modes. When entering the command, all spanning-tree instances are stopped for the previous mode and are restarted in the new mode. Using this command may cause disruption of the user traffic. This example shows how to configure the running version of STP module to RSTP. Switch(config)# spanning-tree mode rstp Verify the settings by entering the show spanning-tree command.
