System Setup IR/RF Setup Certain remote control models feature RF (radio frequency) capability. Refer to the model number printed on the top left corner of your DIRECTV Remote Control. Look for the letter(s) "R" or "RB" at the end of the model number, which indicates that the remote supports radio frequency. If you have a remote with RF capability you can change the remote's signal from Infrared (IR) to RF. While the IR signal requires a clear line of sight to the front of the receiver, RF signals let you put your receiver inside a cabinet or behind solid doors and still be able to command it from up to 200 feet away. Note: Not all DIRECTV Receivers are RF-capable. Receiver Mode Select "Receiver Mode" if you want to use one remote to command a second DIRECTV® Receiver. Advanced Setups Use this option to set up your remote to control 3 or more receivers in one room. 104 DIRECTV® DVR USER GUIDE
