Basic functions of the scanner The scanner provides copy, fax, and scan-to-network capability for large workgroups. Feeder (ADF) Scanner glass Use the ADF for multiple-page documents. Use the scanner glass for single pages, small items (such as postcards or photos), transparencies, photo paper, or thin media (such as magazine clippings). 3 Locate the appropriate connector on the system board. Note: If an optional printer hard disk is currently installed, then the printer hard disk must first be removed. printer software Installing printer software A printer driver is software that lets the computer communicate with the printer. The printer software is typically installed during the initial printer setup. Updating available options in the printer driver Once the printer software and any options are installed, it may be necessary to manually add the options in the printer driver to make them available for print jobs.
