Page 43 highlights

Running the PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility walks you through the steps necessary to setup the network configuration and pair the PowerVault NX3500 controllers together. It also starts the process of pairing the system to the PowerVault MD3xx0i storage appliance. It is recommended that you determine your network configuration and IP address allocation for your NAS controllers before executing this utility. See "NAS Setup Worksheet" on page 197. Before running the NAS Configuration Utility, ensure that: • The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility is installed and executed from a management station that has IPv6 enabled. The utility connects to and configures your controllers through IPv6 link local address. • The management station is connected to the same switch as the client connections on your NAS controllers (see Table 2-1). NOTE: The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility is used for initial configuration. Changes to the system after initial configuration should be done using the NAS Manager The procedures in this section helps in: • Installing the PowerVault NAS configuration utility. • Executing the PowerVault NAS configuration utility to apply the configuration and initialize the NAS controllers. Installing the PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility NOTE: The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility (NASCU) should only be used for initial configuration. After the PowerVault NX3500 is configured, any changes to IPs or cluster name must be completed using the NAS Manager. The NAS Manager can be accessed using the Management VIP. NOTE: Do not attempt to use NASCU to reconfigure an already clustered PowerVault NX3500 solution. Follow the corresponding procedures depending on the type of operating system installed on the management station: Setting Up Your PowerVault NX3500 Solution 43

Running the PowerVault NAS Configuration
Utility
The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility walks you through the steps
necessary to setup the network configuration and pair the PowerVault
NX3500 controllers together. It also starts the process of pairing the system to
the PowerVault MD3
xx
0i storage appliance. It is recommended that you
determine your network configuration and IP address allocation for your NAS
controllers before executing this utility. See “NAS Setup Worksheet” on
page 197.
Before running the NAS Configuration Utility, ensure that:
The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility is installed and executed from
a management station that has IPv6 enabled. The utility connects to and
configures your controllers through IPv6 link local address.
The management station is connected to the same switch as the client
connections on your NAS controllers (see Table 2-1).
NOTE:
The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility is used for initial configuration.
Changes to the system after initial configuration should be done using the NAS
Manager
The procedures in this section helps in:
Installing the PowerVault NAS configuration utility.
Executing the PowerVault NAS configuration utility to apply the
configuration and initialize the NAS controllers.

NOTE:
The PowerVault NAS Configuration Utility (NASCU)
should only be used for
initial configuration. After the PowerVault NX3500 is configured, any changes to IPs
or cluster name must be completed using the NAS Manager. The NAS Manager can
be accessed using the Management VIP.
NOTE:
Do not attempt to use NASCU to reconfigure an already clustered
PowerVault NX3500 solution.
Follow the corresponding procedures depending on the type of operating
system installed on the management station:
