Dell EMC Unity releases OE 5.1.3.0.5.003
On 3/1/2022, Dell EMC released Unity OE 5.1.3.0.5.003.
This release contains the same log4j
security fix that was in 5.1.2.0.5.007, which is detailed in CVE
-
2021
-
44228.
It also contains an
important fix for a Continuous Availability (CA) related bug present in 5.1.2 that caused Dell
EMC to recommend that customers using CA disable it if/when they upgrade to 5.1.2.
Custom-
ers who install 5.1.3.0.5.003 can now re
-
enable CA safely.
Dell EMC Unity OE 5.1.3.0.5.003 also contains a fix for a rare issue (KB
191205
) where NDU
could fail if a user
’
s file system was nearly full (fewer than 13 available inodes).
Without enough
available inodes, the NDU process was unable to create a new Orphandir directory that it was
attempting to create.
This issue will no longer impact users while attempting to install OE
5.1.3.0.5.003.
Dell EMC Unity OE 5.1.3.0.5.003 also fixes a panic related to invalid NFS exports detailed in KB
197235
, as well as a small number of critical performance and file related fixes.

list of fixes in 5.1.3.0.5.003, please see the release notes found here:

Dell introduces PowerVault ME5
The ME5 is the gold standard ME4 replacement targeted at the entry
-
level DAS/SAN storage
market. The customers purchasing at this tier typically value low cost shared storage vs. ad-
vanced features available on other Dell EMC products in the storage portfolio.
Primary goals for ME5
include:
•
Seamless transition from ME4 Series of products
•
Provide a platform that will enable the transition for some of the low
-
end SCv3 customers
•
Provide a cost point replacement of the ME4
ME5 is optimized for DAS with Dell PowerEdge Servers or as shared SAN storage and is the
ideal solution for many workload types including video surveillance, SAN and DAS Exchange,
Enterprise SAN, low latency HPC, NoSQL databases, VDI and more.
ME5 offers 1.5X to 2X
read IOPs performance improvements over ME4, as well as many other benefits.
