Unpacking the Printer Removing the Protective Materials The printer is protected during shipping by pieces of white packing material. Also, the wide carriage printer is protected by a locking 0I.clip, which must be removed before you turn on the printer. Choosing a Place for the Printer There are several important things to consider when selecting a place to set up your printer. Keep the following in mind: Place the printer on a flat, hard, stable surface. Selecting a Paper Feeding Method The paper release lever on the standard width printer has two positions and on the wide carriage printer has three positions for use with the various methods of paper feeding. The wide carriage printer can accommodate single sheets with a width of 7.2 inches (182 mm) to 14.3 inches (364 mm). Printing on Special Paper To help you check the position of the paper thickness lever, the orange MULTI-PART light on the control panel comes on if the lever is set to position 4 or higher.
