Simulator Mode The GPSMAP 296 contains a Simulator Mode, which is helpful for practicing with the unit indoors or when no satellite signals are available or if the antenna is not connected. All waypoints and routes created in Simulator Mode are retained in memory for future use. The following section describes how to use Simulator Mode and walks you through some basic navigation using the simulator. NOTE: Do not attempt to navigate using Simulator Mode. When the unit is set to Simulator Mode, the GPS receiver is turned off. Any Satellite Signal Strength Bars shown are only simulations and do not represent the strength of actual satellite signals.
