8.1.2.5 Traffic (Optional) Foreword The Traffic group selection from the Map Setup Page Menu allows you to Getting Started customize the display of traffic on the Map page. The Traffic function requires the installation of the appropriate traffic device. TIS and TAS cannot be displayed Xpdr Ctrl at the same time. If the aircraft has a TAS unit installed, the GTN unit will be configured for TAS. If no TAS unit is installed and a GTX Mode-S transponder is Com/Nav installed, the GTN unit will be configured for TIS. Coverage is limited to specific areas as shown in the AIM. TAS data comes from a TAS unit such as a Garmin FPL GTS 800 or 820, Skywatch 497, KTA 810, or other unit. Coverage follows the airplane. In the Navigation Map page setup you can select the maximum range Direct-To at which traffic symbols are shown. Once outside of the selected range, traffic Proc will be decluttered. The default values are shown in bold type.
