4 When you finish using your notebook for the first time, turn off your notebook and leave your notebook connected to AC power until the battery charge indicator turns blue. Waking up your notebook When you have not used your notebook for several minutes or if you close the LCD panel without turning off your notebook, it may enter a power-saving mode called Sleep. CHAPTER 4: Using Drives and Accessories Using the DVD drive You can use your notebook to enjoy a wide variety of multimedia features. Identifying drive types Your Gateway notebook may contain one of the following drive types. . Connecting a USB device Your notebook has USB ports for connecting devices such as a diskette drive, flash drive, printer, scanner, camera, keyboard, or mouse. Recharging the battery The battery recharges while it is installed and your notebook is connected to AC power. Select models have the Battery Auto Learning utility programmed into the BIOS. If your notebook does not have this utility in BIOS, use the non-BIOS procedure.
