About Appliance Communication. Energy SmartTM Energy Smart enables your washer to reduce energy consumption during periods of high energy costs. If you live in an area where your power provider charges different rates at various times of the day, your washer can inform you when you are paying the highest rate. The (QHUJ\6PDUWicon will illuminate on the washer control panel, the cycle time will display "ES", and the operation will be in a delay mode. The washer will delay start (up to 4 hours) until the rate goes down.
