Connecting Water Supply

Page 8 highlights

Connecting Water Supply Connect the refrigerator to nearest shutoff valve on a water line in use. Turn off the main water supply. Turn ON nearest faucet long enough to clear line of water. Locate a proper installation position for the shutoff valve: Find a convenient position on a vertical pipe. Horizontal pipe will work, but connections must be made to the top side of the pipe, not the bottom. This will keep normal sediment from collecting in the valve. Drill a installation hole for the valve Drill a quarter inch hole in the water pipe (even if a shutoff valve with self-tapping connection is applied), and remove burrs left on around the drilled hole. Make sure water does not get into the valve. Fail to drill this hole will result in insufficient ice production or smaller ice cube. Fasten shutoff valve: fasten shutoff valve to cold water pipe with pipe clamp. Before installation, please make sure a saddle-type valve complies with your local plumbing codes. According to Commonwealth of Massachusetts plumbing codes CMR248, saddle valves are illegal and use of it is prohibited. Please consult a licensed plumber. Tighten the pipe clamp: Tighten the pipe clamp till the washer starts to swell. Do not over-tighten or you may crash the tubing. - 7 -
