Cleaning the copier/scanner 1 You might need to clean the copier/scanner after scanning or copying items that have ink that smudges or that have excessive dirt or dust. 1 Unplug the printer to turn the power off, and wait for the scanner to cool. 2 Open the scanner door. 2 3 Dampen a clean, cotton cloth with isopropyl alcohol (pH7 or neutral pH). With the damp cloth, gently rub back and forth on the white platen. Also, use the damp cloth to gently rub the rollers. 3 WARNING! Alcohol is flammable. Keep the alcohol and cloth away from an open flame. Allow the alcohol to dry completely before you plug in the power cord. 4 Spray glass cleaner on another piece of clean, cotton cloth, and 4 carefully clean the glass on the image sensor. WARNING! Make sure that the scanner is completely dry before you plug in the printer power cord. 5 5 Plug the printer in to turn it back on. Note In certain areas of California, air pollution control regulations restrict the use of liquid Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) as a cleaning agent. You might need to clean the
copier/scanner after scanning or copying
items that have ink that smudges or that
have excessive dirt or dust.

Unplug the printer to turn the power
off, and wait for the scanner to cool.

Open the scanner door.
