Redistributing the Toner 1 When toner is low, faded or light areas may appear on a printed page. You may be able to temporarily improve print quality by redistributing the toner. The following procedure may allow you to finish the current print job before replacing the toner cartridge. 1 Open the top cover. 2 2 Remove the toner cartridge from the printer. WARNING! Avoid reaching too far into the printer. The adjacent fusing area may be hot! CAUTION To prevent damage, do not expose the 3 toner cartridge to light for more than a few minutes. 3 Rotate the toner cartridge and gently shake from side to side to redistribute the toner. (Do not tip the cartridge on end, or it might leak.) CAUTION If toner gets on your clothing or hands, wipe it off with a dry cloth and wash clothing in cold water. (Hot water sets toner into fabric.) When toner is low, faded or light areas
may appear on a printed page. You may
be able to temporarily improve print
quality by redistributing the toner. The
following procedure may allow you to
finish the current print job before
replacing the toner cartridge.

Open the top cover.

Remove the toner cartridge from
the printer.
WARNING!
Avoid reaching too far into the printer.
The adjacent fusing area may be hot!
CAUTION
To prevent damage, do not expose the
toner cartridge to light for more than a
few minutes.

Rotate the toner cartridge and
gently shake from side to side to
redistribute the toner. (Do not tip the
cartridge on end, or it might leak.)
CAUTION
