Chapter 3 Advanced Printing Tasks 146 Changing the Variable Fuser Mode The variable fuser mode specifies the temperature and printing speed for a specific type of paper. The user can change the variable fuser mode to improve the print quality for paper that is having problems (such as heavy, light, or rough media) even though the paper technically meets the specifications provided on page 330. The variable fuser mode is associated with the paper type. To use one of the variable fuser modes, the paper type the user specifies in the driver for the job must be one of the following: z plain z preprinted z letterhead z transparencies z prepunched z labels z bond z recycled z color z cardstock z rough Continued on next page.
