Chapter 4 Printer Maintenance 172 1 1 Before you begin these steps, turn the printer off and unplug all cables. WARNING! Avoid touching the adjacent fusing area in the left door. It may be HOT. 2 2 Open the top cover of the printer and remove the toner cartridge. CAUTION Do not touch the transfer roller (A). Skin oils on 3 the roller can reduce print quality. If toner gets on your clothes, wipe it off with a dry cloth and wash your clothes in cold water. Hot water sets toner into fabric. 3 With a dry lint-free cloth, wipe any residue 4 from the paper path area, the registration roller (B), and the toner cartridge cavity. 4 Replace the toner cartridge, close the printer, reconnect all cables, and turn the printer on.
