Supported Operating Systems for the cc3310 Carrier Grade Server
The TAM supports the following operating system for the cc3310 Carrier Grade Server:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 Advanced Server (AS) (Kernel 2.4.9-e.24 and higher)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Enterprise Server (Kernel 2.4.21-4.EL and higher: AS and ES versions)
Microsoft® Windows® 2000 AS (Service Pack 3 and higher)
Microsoft Windows 2003 AS
Requirements for TAMTools
TAMTools is an excellent example of how the TAM API can be used to integrate a variety of OS level events into the
Telco Alarms.
TAMTools is needed only if you want to monitor the OS system events in four areas; disk data, process data, memory,
and load data, or if additional SNMP traps are used. In Linux, this data is collected from the following commands:
df
,
ps
,
cat/proc/meminfo
, and
cat /proc/loadavg
.
TAMTools runs best with VGA resolutions of 1024 X 768 or higher.
A Java Virtual Machine (JVM), version 3.1 (or higher) is required for TAMTools.
The Java Virtual Machine System Events or additional SNMP traps are monitored only if TAMTools is running.
In
Linux, you can run TAMTools in the background. Type
"TAMTools -t"
at the shell.
In Linux, you can install a JVM from the hp server cc3310 user information diagnostics and utilities resource CD. It can
be accessed under
\ism\software\Java\jvm
.
When using the Windows OS, if the JVM is installed after TAMTools, set the CLASSPATH variable to:
<JAVAHOME>\bin;<JAVAHOME>\lib
.
NOTE
The embedded alarm management hardware will send events based on information
programmed with SDR.
The alarm thresholds for the various sensors can be changed by
modifying the SDR file and reloading the SDR Repository.
