Jam detection The product uses the following sensors to detect the paper as it moves through the paper path and to report to the DC controller if the paper has jammed. ● Fuser output sensor (SR5) ● Registration sensor (SR8) ● Fuser loop 1 (SR14) ● Fuser loop 2 (SR15) ● Duplexer refeed (SR22) Figure 1-45 Jam detection sensors Y M C K The product determines that a jam has occurred if one of these sensors detects paper at an inappropriate time. The DC controller stops the print operation and notifies the formatter. Table 1-17 Jams that the product detects Jam Description Pickup delay jam 1 Cassette pickup: The TOP sensor does not detect the leading edge of the paper within a specified period after the cassette pickup solenoid has turned on. Multipurpose tray pickup: The TOP sensor does not detect the leading edge of the paper within a specified period after the multipurpose tray solenoid has turned on. Pickup stationary jam The TOP sensor does not detect the trailing edge of the paper within a specified time from when it detects the leading edge. ENWW Jam detection 57
