Block 5: Drum cleaning The residual (waste) toner is cleared from the photosensitive drum surface to prepare for the next latent image formation. Step 7: Drum cleaning The cleaning blade scrapes the residual toner off the surface of the photosensitive drum and deposits it in the waste toner container. The residual charge of the previous image is left on the drum surface after the transfer operation and this affects the following image formation. The product eliminates this residual charge by emitting a laser beam to the drum surface. The drum charge elimination is operated only during the last rotation period.
