. Switch-connect configurations P2000 G3 FC switch-connect The P2000 G3 FC supports up to four Fibre Channel switch connections, two per controller. Connect Fibre Channel cables from controller host ports to switch ports, and from switch ports to data hosts. This document contains installation and configuration information for HP
StorageWorks P2000 G3 MSA Systems containing the following
controllers:
•
HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 MSA Fibre Channel Controller
•
HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 MSA FC/iSCSI Controller
•
HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 MSA SAS Controller
The following steps for installing the P2000 G3 MSA System are included
in this document:

Install and secure equipment into the rack
•
Install hardware options
•
Connect cables
•
Power on the components
•
Configure the MSA
Install and secure equipment in the rack
Use the racking instructions provided with your P2000 G3 MSA enclosure
and other hardware (including servers and drive enclosures) to install the
components in the rack.
Site requirements
For information about detailed site requirements see the racking
instructions poster and user guide.
Rack planning
For information about setting up the rack, including the appropriate
warnings and cautions, see the documentation that came with your rack.

Install hardware options
For information about installing disk drives and other options, see the
installation instructions provided with the option or on the Software
Support/Documentation CD.
IMPORTANT:
Do not install different types of controllers in the same chassis
(for example, a P2000 G3 MSA Fibre Channel Controller with
a P2000 G3 MSA FC/iSCSI Controller). This is not a supported
configuration.

The P2000 G3 MSA System supports four models of drive enclosures:

Observe the following guidelines when connecting drive enclosures to
the P2000 G3 MSA System:
•
Use only supported SAS 4x cables.
•
Mini-SAS to mini-SAS 0.5m cables are provided with the P2000 6Gb
3.5
”

drive enclosure, D2700 6Gb drive enclosure, and MSA70
3Gb drive enclosure (one per controller).
•
SAS to SAS 0.6m cables are provided with the MSA2000 3Gb 3.5"
12-drive enclosure (one per I/O module).
•
Longer cables than those supplied with the enclosure must be pur-
chased separately. See the MSA Quick Specs for details.
•
The maximum length cable allowed in any configuration is 2m.
•
A maximum of eight (8) enclosures (including the array enclosure)
OR one hundred forty-nine (149) drives are allowed in the array
configuration.
