HP UPS Battery
Best Practices
Battery replacement
HP UPSs incorporate
Enhanced Battery Management
(E
B
M), which include an
exclusive, patented technology that extends battery service life by up to
double, optimizes battery recharge time, and provides advance notice of
pending battery failure. A unique, three-step charging method provides the
extended service life and controls the battery charging for proper UPS
operation.
The battery service life quoted for the battery type used in HP UPSs is 3 to 5
years, according to the battery manufacturer's specifications. Factors that
affect battery service life include operating temperature, the depth and
frequency of battery discharges, and charging control. Battery performance
also slightly degrades later in the battery service life.
To ensure confidence and meet expectation of the UPS performance, HP
recommends proactively replacing the battery at the 3-year point of the
service life.
Batteries, battery packs, and accumulators should not be
disposed of together with the general household waste. To
forward them to recycling or proper disposal, use the public
collection system , an authorized HP
Partner,
or their agents.
For more information about battery replacement or proper disposal, contact
an authorized reseller or an authorized service provider.
