Converting Your Rack Server to a Pedestal Server
This data sheet covers the sequence of steps necessary to convert your rack server to a pedestal server. Here is a high-
level summary of these steps:

Check the parts list of kit A6979-04001 for all parts.

Remove the server from its rack enclosure.

Remove any slide rail mounting attachments.
±
Install the server’s pedestal.
The pedestal kit for the server consists of:

Two frame assemblies

Two center tubes

Six 6-32, Torx 15 screws

Remove the Server from the Rack Enclosure
To remove a rack server from its rack enclosure, reverse the instructions in the document
Installation Guide for
Midweight Slide Kit
(HP Part Number: 5064-9640) that was shipped with your rack installation kit.
Assemble the Pedestal Frame to the Server
1.
Place the server on its side on a flat surface. See Figure 1.
2.
Mount the first of the frame assemblies to the top side of the server with three of the 6-32, T-15 screws.
3.
Turn the server over so that it rests on the frame assembly just installed.
4.
Insert the two center tubes into the sockets on the mounted frame assembly.
5.
Slide the remaining frame assembly onto the ends of the two center tubes and then secure the frame assembly to the
server using three 6-32, T-15 screws.
