Zoning with Telnet Commands To install using telnet commands, perform the following steps: 1. Log onto the switch by telnet, see the user's guide provided with the hardware for details, using an account that has administrative privileges. 2. On the command line, enter licenseAdd "key" where "key - HP Surestore 6164 | Zoning User's Guide (Version 3.0) - Page 12
appears, click the admin button. 5. When the Administration View appears, click the License Admin tab. 6. Enter the license key, and click Add License. 2-2 Zoning User's Guide - HP Surestore 6164 | Zoning User's Guide (Version 3.0) - Page 13

Zoning can be administered through either: • The telnet command interface - see the Fabric OS Reference Manual. • The Web Tools Web interface - see the Web Tools User's Guide, Zone Administration Interface section. Configuring Zoning To implement Zoning, perform the following: 1. Check for a unique - HP Surestore 6164 | Zoning User's Guide (Version 3.0) - Page 18
configuration. This ensures the configuration is permanently saved in the switch and it also ensures that the configuration is replicated throughout the fabric. 3-6 Zoning User's Guide - HP Surestore 6164 | Zoning User's Guide (Version 3.0) - Page 19
. If two fabrics that both contain zone configuration information are joined, the fabrics attempt to merge the two sets of zone configuration data. Zoning User's Guide 3-7 - HP Surestore 6164 | Zoning User's Guide (Version 3.0) - Page 20
.When a transaction is closed, all new (form the transactional buffer) and existing zoning information is saved to memory and applied to the fabric. 3-8 Zoning User's Guide - HP Surestore 6164 | Zoning User's Guide (Version 3.0) - Page 21
