13. Glossary ** Coaxial Cable A cable designed to conduct RF signals. To connect a two devices cable will usually have one female and one male connector. ** Frequency The property of a signal measured in cycles per second (=Hz). ** FTA (Free- To-Air) An unscrambled broadcaster allowing customers to view channels or services without paying any subscription. ** Letterbox Format used to fit a widescreen (16:9) broadcast into a smaller screen size (4:3 TV sets). The image is shrunk to fit the screen, leaving blank space on the top and bottom. ** OSD (On Screen Display) OSD displays the basic information necessary for the users to configure monitor or TV settings. OSD information may include brightness, contrast, tuning, RGB adjustment, and screen size and position. ** OTA (Over the Air) A standard for the transmission of software for equipment, through a broadcast system. Manufacturers reserve the right for deciding the release of the software for their products. ** Service A channel to which a receiver or TV is tuned to. ** Signal Strength An on-screen graphic menu that displays how strong the digital signal you are receiving is.
