Memory ProteXion If a detected error is recoverable, the Memory ProteXion feature corrects the error and rewrites the data to another memory location on the same DIMM. If there are not sufficient undamaged memory locations that the data can be rewritten to, the error is unrecoverable. Other conditions can also cause unrecoverable errors. If a detected error is unrecoverable, light path diagnostics LEDs are lit to indicate the failing DIMM. You do not have to enable memory mirroring to use the Memory ProteXion feature. 6 IBM xSeries 336 Type 8837: User's Guide

Active
Memory

of

the
Memory

feature.
Memory

If
a

is
recoverable,
the
Memory
ProteXion
feature
corrects
the
error
and
rewrites
the
data
to
another
memory
location
on
the
same
DIMM.
If
there
are
not
sufficient

memory
locations
that
the
data
can
be

to,
the
error
is
unrecoverable.
Other
conditions

You
do

feature.
