Grounding the Units Grounding the Units Ensure that the system is grounded properly. The units contain a number of static sensitive components that can be damaged by static discharge. IMPORTANT: An Earth Ground Rod is Strongly Recommended and should be no further than 12 feet from the unit and use a minimum of 12 gauge wire in most cases. The type and length of earth ground rods vary by region. Contact the building inspector's office in the municipality where you plan to install the unit for correct grounding materials and installation procedures. 1 3 2 5 4 10 9 11 8 7 6 OR Green Ground Wire 1 3 4 AUG 10, 2005 WELCOME 12 10 9 8 5 7 6 2 NOTE: Keep ground wire as straight as possible. 11 12 AWG Minimum 12 ft Maximum Before digging, contact your local utility companies, to avoid damaging gas, power, or other underground utility lines.
