Taking Photographs-Flash Photography Flash Photography Using the Built-in Speedlight Follow the steps below to take photographs with the built-in Speedlight and a type G or D lens. 1 To enjoy the benefits of 3D multi-sensor balanced fill-flash for digital SLR, choose matrix or center-weighted metering ( 75). 2 Press the Speedlight lock release. The built-in Speedlight will pop up and begin charging. 3 Press the button and rotate the main command dial until the desired flash sync mode is selected in the control panel. Frontcurtain sync Red-eye reduction Red-eye reduction with slow sync1 Rearcurtain sync3 Slow sync2 1 Red-eye reduction with slow sync is available only in auto multi program and aper- ture-priority auto exposure modes. In shutter-priority auto and manual exposure modes, (red-eye reduction) will be selected when you release the button. 2 Slow sync is available only in auto multi program and aperture-priority auto expo- sure modes. In shutter-priority auto and manual exposure modes, (front-cur- tain sync) will be selected when you release the button. 3 In auto multi program and aperture-priority auto exposure modes, flash-sync mode will be set to (slow rear-curtain sync) when you release the button. 98
