Select FM as the input. 2. Press the PTY/TP button repeatedly until "Not RDS" or the program type appears on the display. 3. Press the PRESET/MODE ADJ √/® button to select the program type (PTY), for example "ROCK M". Refer to the explanation of PTY on the previous page. 4. Press the ENTER/SCAN button to start searching for stations of the desired program type. If you press the ENTER/SCAN button without selecting any program type, "Type?" will appear on the display. Return to Step 2. When a station of the desired program type is tuned in, scanning stops for approximately three seconds, then resumes. 5. When the desired station is located, press the ENTER/ SCAN button again to stop scanning. 6. Press the ENTER/SCAN button. 1 PTY/TP 2 ENTER / SCAN Searching for traffic information (TP scan) 1. Press the PTY/TP button twice to select "TP-SCAN." 2. Press the ENTER/SCAN button to start searching for other TP stations. When a station broadcasting traffic information is located, scanning stops. If "Not find" appears on the display, a TP station cannot be located. 1 DISPLAY Frequency (preset No.) Program Service Name (Preset No.) Listening mode Radio Text Program Type When an AM station is selected: Frequency (preset No.) Listening mode Displaying Radio Text (RT) If the selected station is not broadcasting RT signals, this function cannot be used. 1. Each time you press the DISPLAY button, the displayed RDS information changes as shown at left. • If the current station you are listening to is not an RDS station, only the frequency appear. • When RT signals are received, it takes about 15 seconds for the Radio Text to appear on the display. • If "Wait" appears on the display, more time is required to receive the RT information. When the information is received, the characters will scroll across the display. • If "No text" appears on the display for 3 seconds, RT informa- tion is not available. 28
