Whenever an "M" appears with the time-counter display, the camcorder stops rewinding (or fast forwarding) when counter reads M 0:00:00. Press VCR • • or VCR • • again to continue rewinding or fast forwarding, or press COUNTER R/M to turn off the memory-stop feature. Press PLAY/PAUSE to return to normal playback. Dew indicatorflashes in viewfinder If the dew indicator ( l_ ) flashes in the viewfinder, there is moisture in the camcorder. Wait until indicator no longer appears before operating the camcorder. Poor auto-focus operation • Subject is dark or behind glass. Auto-focus may not work under these conditions. Rotate AE dial to MAN and focus manually. See pages 36-37. • Subject is not in center of viewfinder or two subjects are at different distances. Rotate AE dial to MAN and focus manually. See pages 36-37. • Lens is smudged, and image appears unfocused. Viewfinder displays are out of focus Lens is smudged and image appears unfocused. Eyepiece focus control is misadjusted. The small C (color) and B (brightness) controls on the bottom of the viewfinder control the color and brightness of the viewfinder. These controls are set at the factory and should require no adjustment. If the color or brightness every does need adjustment, carefully use a plastic screwdriver and make the adjustments with caution to prevent damaging the miniature controls. Picture is too dark or subject too dark • For best results, only use higher shutter speeds outdoors. Rotate AE dial to sports (._) or 1/1000. See page 43. • Subject in front of a strong backlight. Rotate AE dial to select back lit (D) or press BACKLIGHT button. See pages 43-44. • Subject in front of a strong frontlight. Rotate AE dial to select front lit ([]) or press FRONTLIGHT button.
