INTRODUCTION PREPARATION ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SOUND FIELD PROGRAM This unit incorporates a sophisticated, multi-program digital sound field processor (DSP). This processor allows you to electronically expand and change the shape of the audio sound field from both audio and video sources, creating a theater-like experience in your listening room. You can create outstanding audio sound field by selecting a suitable DSP program (this will, of course, depend on what you are listening to) and making desired adjustments. The following list gives you a brief description of the sound fields produced by each of the DSP programs. Keep in mind that most of these are precise digital recreations of actual acoustic environments. Note • Select the DSP program that you feel sounds best regardless of the name and description given for it below. Pronounced reflections from all directions emphasize the extension of sounds. The sound field has a great deal of presence, and your virtual seat is near the center, close to the stage. This program recreates the acoustic environment of a big church with a high dome and columns along each side. The reverberation delay is very long while the early reflections are smaller than with other sound field programs. This is the sound field at stage front in "The Bottom Line", a famous New York jazz club. The floor can seat 300 people to the left and right in a sound field offering a real and vibrant sound. The ideal program for lively, dynamic rock music. The data for this program was recorded at LA's "hottest" rock club. The listener's virtual seat is at the center-left of the hall. This program recreates the acoustic environment of a lively disco in the heart of a big city. The sound is dense and highly concentrated. It is also characterized by a high-energy, "immediate" sound. Using this program increases the listening position range. This is a sound field suitable for background music at parties.
