Rocking Your Vehicle To Get It Out First, turn your steering wheel and right. That will clear left the area around your front wheels.you havea If four-wheel-drive vehicle, shift 4HI. If your vehicle has into the TractionAssist System, youshould turn it off by pressing theTAS on/off button.Then shift backand forth between REVERSE(R) and a forward gear (or with a manual transmission, between FIRST or SECOND (2) (1) and REVERSE (R)), spinning the wheels little as as possible. Releasethe accelerator pedal while you shift, and presslightly on theaccelerator pedal when the transmission is in gear. By slowlyspinning your wheelsin the forward and reverse directions, you will cause a rocking motion that may your vehicle.If that doesn't free get you out after few tries, you may a need to be towed out. Or, you can use your recovery hooks if your vehicle has them. Ifyou do need to towed out, see Towing be Your Vehicle on page 4-53. Using the Recovery Hooks Your vehicle may be equipped with recovery hooks. The hooks are provided at the front of your vehicle. You may need touse them if you're stuck off-road and need to be pulled tosome place where you can continue driving. 4-51
