Universal Garage Door
Opener (if equipped)
Depending on your vehicle’s
option package, you may
have a HomeLink® or a Car2U®
system. These systems can
help you replace hand-held
transmitters with a single
device. The systems learn the
radio frequency codes of most
transmitters to operate garage
doors, security systems,
and home lighting. Refer
to your Owner’s Guide for
more information, including
programming instructions.
Panoramic Vista Roof™
with Dual Power Sunshades
(if equipped)
The panoramic Vista Roof™
and power sunshade are
equipped with an automatic
one-touch, express opening
feature. To open, press and
release
. The front and
rear sunshades will open
simultaneously. Press
again and the panoramic Vista
Roof will open to the ‘comfort’
position. Press
once more
for the roof to fully open.
To stop the one touch open
feature at any time, press the
control again. To close, pull
down and release. ±irmly
pull the control again to fully
close the Vista Roof™. Pull
and hold the control down
again to close the front and
rear sunshades. To vent from a
closed position, press TILT. To
close, pull and hold TILT.
Global Open Front
Windows and Vista Roof™
You can open your front
windows and vent the Vista
Roof™ (if equipped)
simultaneously using your
Integrated Keyhead
Transmitter (IKT). Press and
hold
until the two front
windows and panoramic roof
begin to open. If any other
remote entry transmitter
control is pressed during the
opening operation, both
windows and the panoramic
roof will stop opening.

Keyless Entry
System
You can use
the keyless
entry keypad
to lock or
unlock the doors without a
key. To unlock the driver’s
door, enter your Fve digit
factory code (available on
the owner’s wallet card in
the glove box or from your
authorized dealer.) To unlock
all doors, enter your Fve digit
factory code and, within Fve
seconds, press 3-4. To lock all
doors, simply press 7-8 and
9-0 at the same time (you
do not need to enter your
factory code Frst). Refer to
your Owner’s Guide for
more information.
Integrated Keyhead
Transmitter (IKT) and
Remote Entry System
Features
Your vehicle
comes
equipped with
two specially
programmed
Integrated Keyhead Transmitters
(IKTs). IKTs are both a
programmed ignition key
and a remote keyless entry
transmitter. Handle the IKT
carefully when starting the car
to avoid accidentally pressing
any of the remote entry buttons.
Press
once to unlock the
driver’s door. The interior lamps
will illuminate.
Press
twice to unlock all
the doors.
Press
once to lock all
the doors and activate the
perimeter alarm system.
Press
twice to conFrm
all the doors and liftgate are
closed. The horn will chirp and
the turn signal lamps will ²ash
once if all the doors and the
liftgate are closed.
Press
to activate the
panic alarm. The horn will
sound and the turn lamps will
²ash. Press
again or turn
the ignition on to deactivate
the panic alarm.
Press
twice within three
seconds to activate the car
Fnder. The horn will chirp
and the turn lamps will ²ash.
It is recommended that this
method be used to locate your
vehicle, rather than using the
panic alarm.
Press
twice to open the
power liftgate.
Ensure that you keep the IKT
adhesive security label in a safe
place for future reference.
Replacement Integrated
Keyhead Transmitters are
only available through
an authorized dealer.
Auxiliary Input Jack
Your vehicle is
equipped with
an Auxiliary
Input Jack
located inside
the console bin. This allows
you to plug and play auxiliary
audio devices, including MP3
players. Press AUX repeatedly
on your audio system to
access. When LINE IN
appears in the display, plug
in your auxiliary audio
device. ±or more detailed
information, please refer to
your Owner’s Guide.
Memory Feature
The memory feature enables
your vehicle to ‘remember’
the position of your seats and
mirrors. To activate, set your
seat and mirrors to the desired
position. Press and hold either
1 or 2 on the driver’s door
until two tones are heard.
Then, within three seconds,
press
on your Integrated
Keyhead transmitter (IKT).
Another tone will sound when
the activation is complete.
Now when you press
on
your IKT, the seats and mirrors
will automatically move to the
desired position.
Reverse Sensing System
Your vehicle is equipped with
a reverse sensing system
which can warn you if there
is a large object behind the
vehicle that may be too low
for you to see. The system will
sound a warning tone that
increases in frequency as the
object gets closer and will
sound continuously when the
object is less than 10 inches
away.
Note
: Visibility aids do
not replace the need to watch
where the vehicle is moving.

for safety information, more
detail and limitations.
Power Liftgate
To open the power liftgate,
press
on the instrument
panel, or press
twice
within three seconds on your
remote entry transmitter, or
press and release the control
button located on the liftgate.
To close, press
located
on the left
rear quarter
panel in the
rear cargo area
or press
twice on your remote entry
transmitter. Keep clear of
the liftgate when operating
the rear switch. Your power
liftgate is equipped with
an obstacle detection
feature which will either
stop or revert to a full open
position when it encounters
a solid object. ±or complete
information, please refer to
your Owner’s Guide.
SYNC
®
Your vehicle is
equipped with SYNC® – a
hands-free communications
and entertainment system
with special phone and
media features. ±or more
information, please refer to
the SYNC® Supplement or
to the SYNC® section in the
Navigation Supplement.

Ambient Lighting
(if equipped)
Your vehicle may be
equipped with an ambient
lighting feature. The control
is located on the center
console and, when activated,
illuminates footwells, storage
bins and
cupholders
with a choice
of several
colors.
Ambient lighting is
operational when the ignition
is on or in the accessory
position. Press the
control repeatedly to turn
on, cycle through your color
choices, and turn o³.
Overdrive Control/
Cancel with Grade Assist
Drive with the vehicle in
Overdrive (D) for the best
fuel economy. You can
deactivate overdrive by
pressing the transmission
control switch on the side of
the shift handle. Your vehicle
is equipped with a special
Grade Assist feature which
is automatically activated
when overdrive is turned o³.
Grade assist helps to provide
optimal gear selection
and additional engine
braking on hilly terrain. It
is recommended that you
return to O/D (Overdrive)
once you return to ²at terrain.
To return to overdrive, simply
press the transmission control
switch again.
USB Port
Your vehicle is equipped with
a USB port inside the center
console. This feature allows
you to plug in media playing
devices, memory sticks, and
also to charge devices if they
support this feature. ±or
more information, please
refer to Accessing and Using
your USB port in the SYNC®
supplement or the Navigation
system supplement.

2nd Row Fold Flat Seatback
To fold down the rear seat, pull up on
the lever on the outboard side of the
seat cushion and let the seatback rotate
downward into the load ²oor position.
To return to the upright position, rotate the
seatback upward until the seatback latches.
The seatback will click when it is locked
into position.
2nd Row Seat Recline
To adjust the second row seatback to
the desired position, while seated, pull
the release lever up and push the
seatback rearward.

2nd Row EasyFold™
Seatback Release (if equipped)
The control buttons are located on the
left-hand rear quarter trim panel
(accessible from the liftgate area).
Press and hold the control to lower the
seat. The top portion lowers the right (40%)
seatback, and the bottom portion lowers
the left (60%) seatback.

Front Heated and Cooled Seats
To activate these functions, press the
buttons located on the climate control
panel. Press
once for full heat or
once for full cool (three lights), twice for
medium heat or medium cool (two lights)
and a third time for low heat or low cool
(one light).

Rear Heated Seats (if equipped)
The rear seat heat controls are located
on the rear door panels. To operate the
heated seats, push the top of the control for
maximum heat, bottom of the control for
minimum heat. Push again to deactivate.
Fuel Type and Tank Capacity
±ront wheel drive vehicles
have a fuel tank capacity of
19.2 gallons (72.7 L) while All
Wheel drive vehicles have
a fuel tank capacity of 20.8
gallons (78.7L). Your vehicle
is designed to use “Regular”
unleaded gasoline with
an octane rating of 87. Do
not use gasoline labeled as
“Regular” in high altitude
areas with Octane ratings less
than 87. Do not use E85 fuels
because your vehicle was not
designed to run on fuels with
more than 10% ethanol.
Location of Spare Tire
Your spare tire and tools are
located in the rear cargo
area of the vehicle, under
the carpeted ²oor panel. The
temporary spare is designed
for emergency use only and
should be replaced as soon
as possible. ±or complete
details on how to change
your tire, refer to the Roadside
Emergencies chapter in your
Owner’s Guide.
Tire Pressure
Check your tire pressure
at least once a month and
before long trips (including
spare). The recommended
speciFcations are on the
Safety CertiFcation Label
or Tire Label located on the
B-pilar or the edge of the
driver’s door. As an added
safety feature, your vehicle is
equipped with a
Tire Pressure
Monitoring System (TPMS)
that illuminates a low tire
pressure warning light when
one or more of your tires is
signiFcantly under-in²ated.

your Owner’s Guide for
more information.
Fuel Pump Shut-O± Switch
The fuel pump shut-o³ switch
stops the electric fuel pump
from sending fuel to your
engine when your vehicle has
sustained a substantial jolt.
The switch is located behind
the panel on the left side
of the cargo area. ±or more
information regarding the fuel
pump shut-o³ switch, refer
to the Roadside Emergencies
chapter of your Owner’s Guide.
SOS Post-Crash
Alert System™
Your vehicle is equipped with
the SOS Post-Crash Alert
system™. This system provides
audible and visual alarms in
the event of a crash which
causes the deployment of
airbags or the activation of
the safety belt pretensioners.
The turn signals will ²ash
and the horn will sound. To
deactivate the system, press
the hazard ²asher control,
or you can press
on your
remote transmitter.
Roadside Assistance
Your new Lincoln MKX
comes with the assurance
and support of 24-hour
emergency roadside
assistance. Roadside
assistance includes such
services as: lockout assistance,
limited fuel delivery, battery
jump starts, changing a ²at
tire, towing, and winch out.
To receive roadside assistance
in the United States, call
1 (800) 241-3673. In Canada,
call 1 (800) 665-2006.
All Wheel Drive
(AWD, if equipped)
Your vehicle may be equipped
with All Wheel Drive (AWD).
The AWD system is always
active and uses all four wheels
to power the vehicle. This
increases traction, enabling
you to drive over terrain
and road conditions that
a conventional two-wheel
drive vehicle cannot. Refer to
your Owner’s Guide for more
information.
Note:
If your
vehicle is equipped with
AWD, a spare tire of a
di³erent size (other than the
tire provided) should never
be used. Using a di³erent size
could cause the AWD system
to stop functioning and
default to front wheel drive.
Your vehicle is not intended
for o³-road use.
