Effective operation for a longer battery life 1. Do not charge the traction batteries or park the vehicle under the conditions below which cause the batteries to become hot. CAUTION D Keep flammable objects away from the vehicle during charging. D Do not leave the vehicle for a long time with the charge connector connected after finishing charging. D Charging in a strong sunlight. D Charging just after driving on a steep hill or highway 2. Do not apply charging again after full charge is finished. 3. The traction batteries may not be fully charged if the battery power is left enough for the next trip. However, you should charge the traction batteries fully once a week. If the preheating/precooling is set, the operation may finish without a full charge since charging for preheating/ precooling took place first. To apply a full charge, take sufficient time (7 to 8 hours) between charging start time and preheating/precooling start time. [AFTER CHARGING] 1. Disconnect the charge connector while pushing the release button on the charge connector, and replace the cap for the connector on the vehicle and close the charge door. 2. With the SOC meter, make sure of the full charge. D Be careful not to drop or step on the charge connector. If damaged, proper charging may not occur. D Take care that no water or dirt enters the charge connector, the connector on the vehicle and the connector cap. It is dangerous as it may cause a short circuit or an electric shock. 26
