'03 SOLARA_U (L/O 0207) -Luggage security system -Internal trunk release handle This system deactivates the lock release lever so that things locked in the trunk can be protected. 1. Coupe: Push down the security lock levers to lock the rear seatbacks. After locking the rear seatbacks, try folding them down to make sure they are securely locked, otherwise someone could get into the trunk by folding down a rear seat. 2. Insert the master key into the glove box lock after closing the glove box lid and turn it clockwise to safeguard the trunk lid open switch. After closing the trunk lid, try pulling it up to make sure it is securely locked. If a person is locked in the trunk, he/she can pull down the phosphorescent handle on the inside of trunk lid to open the trunk lid. The phosphorescent (glow−in−the−dark) handle will continue to glow for a time after the trunk lid is closed. Exposing the handle to stronger light will cause it to glow longer. 26 2003 MY SOLARA (OM33573U)
