Hybrid vehicle immobilizer system 21p005a 21p113 21p007b KEY NUMBER PLATE Your key number is shown on the plate. Keep the plate in a safe place such as your wallet, not in the vehicle. If you should lose your keys or if you need additional keys, duplicates can be made by a Toyota dealer using the key number. We recommend writing down the key number and storing it in a safe place. DEACTIVATION FUNCTION USING THE SMART The hybrid vehicle immobilizer system is a shift prevention system. When you enter the vehicle carrying a smart key and press the "POWER" switch, the electronic code in the key is automatically checked to determine whether it corresponds to the registered ID code for the vehicle. If the ID code is verified, you can start the hybrid system. The system is automatically set when the hybrid system is off and driver's door is opened. The indicator light will start flashing to show the system is set. If any of the following indicator conditions occurs, contact your Toyota dealer. D The indicator light stays on except when the theft deterrent system is setting or activating. (See "Theft deterrent system" on page 45.) D The indicator light does not start flashing when the hybrid system is off and driver's door is opened. D The indicator light flashes inconsistently. 21
