Power Management The Power Management menu lets you configure the system power-management feature. It works only under APM mode. IMPORTANT:If an ACPI-aware operating system such as Windows 98 or Windows 2000 is installed in ACPI mode, the operating system will use the ACPI interfaces. Then the settings in Power Management page is non-effective. Settings in boldface are the default and suggested settings. Parameter Power Management Mode IDE Hard Disk Standby Timer System Sleep Timer Sleep Mode Power Switch < 4 sec. System Wake-up Event 36 Description Allows you to reduce the system's power consumption. When enabled, the IDE hard disk and system timers become configurable. Allows the hard disk to enter Standby mode after inactivity of 1 to 15 minutes, depending on your setting. Automatically puts the system to powersaving mode after a specified period of inactivity. Any keyboard or mouse action, or any activity detected from the IRQ channels resumes system operation. Lets you specify the power-saving mode that the system will enter after a specified period of inactivity. This parameter is configurable only if the System Sleep Timer is enabled. Lets you specify whether to automatically turn off the machine or put the system to Suspend mode when the power switch is pressed for less than 4 seconds. Lets you specify the activity that will resume the system to normal operation. Options Enabled or Disabled 1 to 15 minutes, or Off 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50...120 minutes, or Off Standby or Suspend Power Off or Suspend Chapter 2
