IDE HDD Block Mode Block mode is also called block transfer, multiple commands, or multiple sector read/write. If your IDE hard drive supports block mode, select Enabled for automatic detection of the optimal number of block read/write per sector the drive can support. IDE DMA Transfer Access This item allows you to enable the transfer access of the IDE DMA. On-Chip Primary/Secondary PCI IDE The integrated peripheral controller contains an IDE interface with support for two IDE channels. Select Enabled to activate each channel separately. IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave PIO Each IDE channel supports a master device and a slave device. These four items let you assign which kind of PIO (Programmed Input/Output) is used by IDE devices. Choose Auto to let the system auto detect which PIO mode is optimal, or select a PIO mode from zero to four. IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave UltraDMA This main board supports UltraDMA technology, which provides faster access to IDE devices. If you install a device that supports UltraDMA, you can change the item on this list to Auto. You Chapter 2 36
