BIOS Security Features Field Supervisor Password User Password HDD Password Change Supervisor Password Change User Password Change HDD Password Security Option Removable Device Boot Description Displays the supervisor password status (basically, the BIOS password). When set to Installed, this password will allow the user to access and change all settings in the Setup Utility. Displays the user password status. Only the following menus will be accessible when this password is set as Installed: • System Date and System Time • Exit Without Saving Displays the hard disk password status. When set to Installed, user will be prompted to enter this password during boot-up. Moving a locked hard disk to another machine will not unlock it, since the HDD password is stored in the hard disk firmware and moves with the hard disk. Press Enter to change the supervisor password. Value Installed Not Installed Press Enter to change the user password. Press Enter to change the HDD password. This field is only accessible during a cool boot. During a warm boot, this field will be grayed-out. This field is only visible when the supervisor or user password is installed. • Setup - User will be prompted to enter the password when trying to access the Setup Utility. • System - User will be prompted to enter the password both during boot-up and when trying to access the Setup Utility.
